Social Democratic EDEK President Yiannakis Omirou announced on Tuesday that he is resigning from his position.
In statements to the press Omirou said that he has submitted his resignation in writing to the members of the party`s political bureau.
He added that the reasons for his decision to step down are outlined in the same letter, which he released.
The matter will be discussed on Wednesday, at 19.00 hrs, during a meeting of the party`s political bureau which will be chaired by EDEK`s Deputy President Marinos Sizopoulos.
