Kurds residing in Cyprus demonstrate against ‘brutal massacres by ISIS’

Kurds who reside in Cyprus organized Saturday a march and demonstration against the “brutal massacres on 29th May, 2014, in the villages of Telilia, Thumad and Qonjac, west of Sere-Kanye by Battalions of ISIS (`Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant`), an organization which is affiliated to Al Qaeda”. The demonstrators handed in a petition to an UNFICYP representative, to be delivered to UNSG Ban-Ki Moon. The letter to UNSG, which was circulated to the Media, says that according to testimonies by survivors, “these massacres have claimed the lives of innocent children, women and the elderly”. According to the The Democratic Union Party ( PYD) , “these Salafist criminal battalions have used heavy weapons without any moral or humane restraint, killing more than 15 unarmed people”, adding that this is “the most heinous crime against parents, against humanity and against unarmed civilians”. PYD calls on all human rights organizations and international community “to break their silence and investigate independently the crimes committed against defenseless civilians in Syria and to consider these crimes as war crimes and support this opinion in all international fora”.
