Walthamstow – car repair workshop fire

Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers have been called to a fire at a car repair workshop in a railway arch on Rosebank Road in Walthamstow.

Half of the workshop containing car tyres is alight.

Station Manager Stuart Grout who is at the scene said: “Crews had to spend a lot of time cutting away at the building to access the fire. They’re making steady progress clearing the contents of the workshop in order to reach the seat of the fire. Thankfully no injuries are reported.”

The Brigade was called at 0513 and is still at the scene. Fire crews from Walthamstow, Leyton, Bethnal Green, Leytonstone, Homerton, Tottenham and Stratford fire stations are attending the incident.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
