It is believed that the suspect ambushed the victim as she was opening her back door with police investigators claiming that the elderly woman succeeded in fighting off her assailant as he tried to force his way into her home.
The suspect eventually fled empty-handed after failing to find a way past the defiant 75-year-old. Doctors at Limassol General Hospital later said that she has been treated for bruising to her head as well as for bite marks to her hands.
Police are on the lookout for the man after being handed a description by the elderly woman.
