This was to be AEK Youth Eagles Gold U18 last ever game together as AEK Youth Gold, and they gave it all in the Watford Friendly U18 Challenge Cup final versus Whetstone Wanderers they began well taking a two goal lead with both goals coming from Ronaldo Bajraktari. Then the nerves crept in and Whetstone Wanderers were full on attack and eventually equalised and then it was AEK’s turn to attack and they were plentiful but they failed to capitalise and Whetstone Wanderers on the break they scored the winner to give them a 3-2 win.
It was an emotional ending with it being the AEK Youth U18 Gold last ever game. Most of the players had been together for over twelve years and the manager in all that time was Cos Avraan who said later ” it was a great privilege to have managed these kids and to see them grow up together, and they did the club proud”.
