AKEL General Secretary points out importance of voting in Cyprus presidential elections

Left-wing AKEL General Secretary Andros Kyprianou has pointed out the importance of the people voting in the elections, to express their view.

Speaking after casting his vote at a polling station in Nicosia, Kyprianou said that “today the people of Cyprus decide who will be the President of the Republic of Cyprus for the next five years.”

“They will determine the course our country and people will take over the next decades, the course that our children, grandchildren, and the whole of Cyprus will take,” he said.

Kyprianou expressed hope that everything would run smoothly and pointed out that this process was very important.

“We should not let others decide for us. It is very important that everyone participates in this process, to state their view, and for democracy to work, and decide who will be the next President of the Republic of Cyprus,” he said.

Replying to questions, Kyprianou said “the majority will decide, and any decision must be respected, but we must all take part in this process.”
