Jaw-dropping stunts, death-defying jumps and several tonnes of imported mud will help transform Alexandra Palace.
Red Bull has chosen the palace and park as the venue for the second ever Empire of Dirt BMX competition on May 19 and 20.
Around 10,000 people are expected to descend on the park to watch the event, which attracts 34 of the world’s best riders.
Rider Kye Forte – the driving force behind the competition – said: “We plan to make the 2012 Red Bull Empire of Dirt course the most challenging ever seen with oversized features, motocross-style jumps and snowboard-type hits.
“What better location to take BMX riding to the next level than at Alexandra Palace with its incredible views out and over London.”
It will also be a chance for spectators to learn about the event before the Olympics as BMX became a medal sport four years ago.
