The President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades had on Monday a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, with whom he discussed the Cyprus issue, the migrant crisis and the forthcoming EU Summit.
According to a written announcement by Government Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides, the President briefed the Chancellor on the latest developments in Cyprus, while the two leaders also exchanged views on developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and on the ways to tackle the migrant problem, by putting emphasis on dealing with its root causes.
During their conversation, President Anastasiades and Chancellor Merkel also exchanged views on the agenda of the forthcoming European Council.
