Another win for St Panteleimon FC

St Panteleimom beat Wilberforce Wanderers 5-1 in the Middlesex County Football league to keep their unbeaten record intact.

Scorers were Jack Smith 3, Aristos Koumados and Robert Katsikas.

The Saints played away last Saturday but on familiar turf. New River was the venue for the League game against Wilberforce Wanderers FC.

The Saints started confidently and had a lot of possession. Some good moves resulted in two clever goals in quick succession. Jack Smith scored both with a great chip over the goalkeeper, and then a well-placed shot in the corner.

At half time The Saints were comfortable. Early in the second half Smith earned his hat-trick with a penalty. At this point, The Saints should have gone on to score more, but seems to take their foot off the pedal. They were punished for this when Wanderers got a goal back.

Annoyed that they did not keep a clean sheet, this sparked The Saints into life again. Some very clean and crisp passing put Aristos Koumados through. He rounded the keeper and scored well to make it 1-4. Continued pressing by the Saints gave Roberto Katsikas a great low shot on goal to make it a well-earned 1-5.

The Saints remain unbeaten this season in the league. 3 wins and a draw, give them 10 points with 3 games in hand.

Especially pleasing this week, was the fact that the victory was achieved with the Manager, George Frangeskou, being away in Cyprus. The team was managed by the Director of Football John Armenakas with the able assistance of George Mina. An example of superb teamwork on and off the pitch.

We look forward to playing AEK London next week. A top of the table clash.
