The Greek Cypriot Brotherhood of the United Kingdom and NEPOMAK UK (co-organisers of the event) are delighted to extend their deepest gratitude to acclaimed British-Cypriot artist Antigoni for her spectacular performance at a special community event held on Friday 27th February 2026, at the Brotherhood’s premises.
Antigoni’s performance – given generously without a performance fee – brought together community members of all ages for a night of music, cultural pride and communal support. Her appearance helped raise valuable funds for the building of the Greek Cypriot Brotherhood, a key hub for the Diaspora’s cultural and social activities.
Phanos Theophanous, President of the Greek Cypriot Brotherhood in his welcome speech stated that: “This event marks the first official gathering organised by our new Executive Committee, and we could not have imagined a more fitting way to begin this new chapter. It was a wonderful celebration of excellence, youth, culture, and the global voice of our community.”
Around 200 attendees embraced a spirit of unity and cultural pride, reflecting the Brother-hood’s longstanding mission – as the oldest Cypriot association in Britain, founded in 1934 – to promote and preserve Greek-Cypriot values, culture, and community cohesion as well as Cyprus and Greece throughout the UK diaspora. Over its nine decades of service, the Brotherhood has evolved to support social, cultural, educational and charitable causes central to the Cypriot community.
Antigoni – a diaspora Cypriot, born in London, has become a notable figure both within and beyond the community. With a distinctive pop and Mediterranean-influenced sound and rising international profile, she was selected to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria. Her recent single “Jalla” (released in February 2026) showcases her blend of contemporary pop with cultural influences, and exemplifies her role as a cultural ambassador for the Cypriot diaspora.
Her performance at this community fundraiser was widely praised for its energy, professionalism, and heartfelt connection to her roots.
Attendees described the performance as “inspiring,” noting Antigoni’s ability to bring the spirit of Cyprus and its heritage to life through her music.
Evenings like this not only strengthen cultural bonds within the diaspora but also help to support essential infrastructure – such as the Greek Cypriot Brotherhood – that enables cultural education, social connection, and charitable initiatives for generations to come.
