The President of the European Council, António Costa, has expressed the full support of the European Union to the efforts of the United Nations for a negotiated settlement to the Cyprus issue, expressing the EU’s readiness “to play its full role in the process.”
‘’The EU remains firmly committed to the reunification of Cyprus, in line with UNSC resolutions and EU principles,’’ Costa posted on X platform.
‘’I fully support the efforts of UN and SG Antonio Guterres to advance a negotiated settlement and wish every success for today’s important meeting,’’ the European Council President added.
‘’The EU stands ready to play its full role in the process,’’ he concluded.
