Flying Squad officers have released an image of a man sought and jewellery stolen in a violent burglary in Barnet.
At around 09:10hrs on 26 January, a man knocked on the door of a house in Caddington Close, East Barnet pretending to be a delivery driver.
The victim – a woman, aged in her 60s, who was alone in the house – opened the door and was attacked by the suspect, who pushed her into the house.
The victim was struck with a black handgun and, with her hands tied behind her back with tape and cable ties, she was forced upstairs.
The suspect stole a number of items of valuable jewellery and left the house, making off in a black Vauxhall Insignia driven by a second man.
The incident happened over five months ago. Detectives are now releasing the images as initial lines of enquiry have been exhausted.
The suspect is described as an East European man, aged around 40 years with dark hair.
A total of eight items of jewellery were stolen. These included:
1) A diamond encrusted Cartier white gold love bangle valued at £35,000,
2) Cartier earrings valued at £15,000; and
3) A Tiffany ring with square emerald-cut diamond valued at £75,000.
Images of all three items have been released, along with a CCTV image showing the man sought by police, although the image only captures this man from behind.
Anyone who may be able to identify the suspect, or has information about the stolen items, is asked to call Flying Squad officers in Putney via 101.
To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
