Appeal following a theft from cash point in Potters Bar

Police are releasing CCTV images of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with a theft at a cashpoint in Potters Bar.

The incident took place at HSBC on Darkes Lane, Potters Bar, on Tuesday April 14th, at approximately 1pm.

£200 was stolen from the 87 year old victim who was withdrawing money from the cashpoint, when they were approached and distracted by a woman. Having been a victim of a similar offence previously, the victim was aware of what was happening, however in haste to report it to the bank, the offenders still managed to steal the money from the machine.

PC Paul Francis from the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Potters Bar is investigating and said: “This is a despicable crime with the offender preying on a vulnerable 87 year old. This has been particularly distressing for the victim who has previously been a victim of this crime before.
