A 45-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service.
He was taken to a north London hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1145hrs.
Next of kin have been notified. We await formal identification.
A post mortem will be scheduled in due course.
No other vehicle is believed to be involved in this collision.
Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who saw an old style red BMW 318 travelling northbound on Falloden Way shortly before 0520hrs on Wednesday, 15 July as it struck a lamppost close to the junction with Addison Way or anyone who saw the vehicle travelling prior to the collision.
No arrests. Enquiries continue.
