Arrest after tourists leave Ayia Napa without paying hotel bill

Two people are being held in police custody after leaving their hotel in Ayia Napa without paying the bill.

A 23-year-old was arrested at Larnaca airport early on Monday morning where he was attempting to board a flight to go back home.

According to the police, on Sunday the 42-year-old owner of the hotel reported to CID Famagusta that a 27-year-old from Sweden who had stayed at the hotel from April 22 to 26 had left the hotel, probably on April 24, without paying a bill of €850.

An arrest warrant was issued for him and his name was put on the stop list.

Following police inquiries it was also discovered that a second person staying at the same hotel for the same time period, a second Swede, aged 23, left the hotel without paying his bill. He left the hotel the same day as the 27-year-old.

An arrest warrant was also obtained for the 23-year-old and he was put on the stop list. Shortly after 3am on Monday, the 23-year-old was arrested as he tried to depart from Larnaca airport.
