Arrest warrants have been issued for two brothers, nephews of the elderly couple.
Police have already arrested the 30-year-old nephew, who is expected in court on Sunday. There is evidence linking a gun that belongs to him to the crime scene. The gun is believed to have been stored unsafely.
His brother, a 33-year-old man who is in a psychiatric hospital in Nicosia (Athalassa), is suspected to have taken the gun. Police are waiting from Legal Services the green light to go and arrest him. He will also appear before court if Police get legal clearance to arrest him.
The victims, 74-year-old Savvas Georgiou and 79-year-old Kyriaki Georgiou both from Ayios Ioannis, had been missing from their home for at least two days and were found dead in a shed on their property on Thursday around 9:30pm.
Official autopsies were performed on Saturday afternoon and revealed that both victims were shot at close range. It is believed the 33-year-old man is the one who pulled the trigger, shooting the couple multiple times.
