Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis will face top seed and three-time champion Novak Djokovic in a blockbuster second round showdown at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, USA.
During yesterday`s match with Czech Jiri Vesely, Bagdhatis took the first set with 6-3 and in the second, while the games were 1-1, Vesely retired, giving the Cypriot champion the ticket for the second round.
Making his eighth trip to Indian Wells, Bagdhatis will look to replicate his great success from years past where he produced some of the best tennis of his career. One of the most prestigious events on the ATP World Tour, located in southern California, it is the site of Marcos` stunning victory over Roger Federer in 2010. Overall, he owns an 8-7 tournament record, with his best result having come on debut in reaching the quarter-finals in 2006.
