Bollywood star to appear in Cypriot film

BOLLYWOOD star Neetu Chandra has been cast as the ‘sexy yet innocent’ domestic worker in a new Cypriot movie, Home Sweet Home, currently being shot in the village of Ayios Sozomenos, just outside the capital.

According to production manager Stylianos Constantinou, the actress was chosen out of 15 Indian actresses. “We were looking for someone that was equally innocent but that can be sexy too,” said Constantinou, adding that they began filming on May 10 and will finish on June 16.

Constantinou said that the actress has been enjoying herself since she got here. In a recent interview in DNA India she mentions how ‘fit’ she has found Cypriot men, likening them to Indian men.

Chandra, aged 27, plays a domestic worker “who has the power of making things good with her charms”, according to Constantinou, adding that it is quite a big part.

The movie, that is considered a comedy with satirical overtones, is centred on a Cypriot family who discover oil deposits in a field of theirs, and the British government along with the Russian and Cypriot government want to get their hands on it.

“Movies of this size are rare in Cyprus so it’s a good tradition to follow as it’s good for the economy,” said Constantinou, adding that they hope to have it in cinemas before the end of the year.

The film which is directed by Kyriakos Tofarides, and is a co-produced by Avra Productions and the Cyprus Film advisory board, also stars Costas Demetriou and Carmen Roungeri. It is in Greek and English.

Meanwhile, Turkish Cypriot press reported recently that part of another Bollywood movie, Race 2, was shot at hotel casinos in the occupied north this month.
