Broxbourne Council is set to launch its first Junior Parkrun in Cheshunt.

Youngsters aged between four and 14 years old are invited to take part in the first official event in Cheshunt Park at 9am on Sunday September 3.
Parkrun, who already host an adult 5k run in Barclay Park, Hoddesdon and more than 400 events nationwide, are officially supporting the event. Funding secured from the Herts Sports Partnership and Broxbourne Council has allowed organisers to buy new equipment to support the free weekly run.
Councillor Dee Hart, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: “Junior Parkrun is a brilliant initiative that will allow more youngsters to enjoy the fun and benefits to health and wellbeing that taking part gives. We hope that the new equipment and support from Parkrun will encourage even more young people to come along and take part in this fantastic free event.”
The starting line for the Junior Parkrun is located opposite the skate park.
The event is free to enter but participants are asked to register online at www.parkrun.org.uk/register before they arrive. While it is not mandatory for a parent or guardian to participate in the run, children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must remain in attendance.
Refreshments will be available to buy after the run for runners and spectators.
