On Wednesday 14 March, a number of residents were recognised at the Council’s annual Outstanding Service to the Community Awards for their hard work and dedication to the Borough of Broxbourne.
At an intimate ceremony that took place at the Council Offices in Cheshunt, Councillor Bren Perryman handed out awards to the following people:
– Terry Rice-Milton
– Anna Rice-Milton
– Lyn Youthed
– Lorraine Hill

Lorraine and Lyn are both Tesco Champions/Community Volunteers who work tirelessly to promote healthy living amongst young people. On top of that, they donate food to local groups, supply raffle prizes for local events, promote the Bags of Help initiative to those in need and raise money for charities including Cancer Research, The British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.
Lorraine said: “We’re both really grateful and have had a wonderful afternoon. We love what we do and take great pleasure in helping the local community.”
Husband and wife, Terry and Anna Rice-Milton, were thanked for their commitment to making Broxbourne a better place for all. Anna’s contributions to the Environmental Committee over the years were noted, as was Terry’s 43 years’ service to the community and his active role in the Environmental Committee. Both also help to keep the Borough clean by litter-picking in their local area.
Adding to the excitement of the event, attendees were treated to a viewing of a video of a performance by Cupid’s Inspiration; a pop band Terry fronted that had success with two Top 40 hits in the UK singles chart in 1968.
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Mark Mills-Bishop, attended to show his appreciation, saying: “We are incredibly grateful for what you all do; your commitment to improving life in the Borough does not go unnoticed. I hope your selfless attitudes will inspire others to make a difference.”
