Cyprus` Ministry of Health issued today an announcement in which it refers to the health controls carried out on passengers of vessels that arrive on the island`s marinas, following press reports on the issue.
It is noted that upon arrival of passengers from Category A countries, a health officer of the Ministry tests their temperature and records their medical history.
Regarding passengers from Category B countries, a health officer takes their temperature, checks the negative PCR certificate and records their medical history.
In case there are passengers who fall into the categories of citizens who can carry out the examination in Cyprus, the manager of the marina, or vessel, informs a private laboratory, which takes samples on site. Passengers must remain restricted until the announcement of the test result.
Regarding vessels arriving from Category C countries, it is noted that passengers must be Cypriot citizens and permanent residents or have obtained a special permit to arrive in Cyprus. Upon arrival a health officer of the Ministry carries out an on-site inspection of the negative PCR certificate submitted by the passengers and records their medical history.
If passengers fall into the categories of citizens who can carry out the examination in Cyprus, the marina or vessel manager informs a private laboratory, which takes samples on site. Following that, the health officer informs in writing the managers about the duration of confinement. Vessels from Category C countries remain in a designated area in the marina until the end of the passengers` quarantine. If passengers are permanent residents of the Republic of Cyprus they have the option to remain in self isolation at home.
