The European Court of Justice announced Tuesday it has received the appeal of the European Commission against Cyprus for Nicosia’s failure to integrate the EU directive on renewable energy in national law.
The Commission recommends the imposition of a daily penalty of 11,404.80 euro from the date of publication of the judgment.
The EU Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU concerns the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources and sets obligatory national targets for the overall share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption and the share of energy from renewable sources in transport.
