The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) expresses its thanks to the Government of Kuwait and to the family of the late former Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides for their donations to the CMP.
These funds will contribute to the ongoing implementation of the CMP project on the Exhumation, Identification and Return of Remains of Missing Persons in Cyprus, in particular to pay for the extraction and analysis of DNA, the press releases said.
The CMP, it is added, is striving to locate, exhume, identify and return the remains of as many individuals as possible in order to bring an end to the painful uncertainty which has affected so many families for so many years.
To date, the remains of nearly 1100 individuals have been exhumed while 521 have been identified and returned to their families, the press releases concludes.
