Council officers, Metropolitan Police Service and other partners joined forces for Operation Shadow, which is a joint initiative to ensure businesses are operating legally and safely.
On 29 January, we visited businesses in Ponders End and Jubilee wards, and spoke to business owners about what is expected of them.
In attendance were officers representing our Licensing, Trading Standards, Parking Enforcement, Blue Badge Enforcement, Planning, Food Safety, Community Safety and antisocial behaviour (ASB) teams.
Four vehicles were identified by the Blue Badge team. Two were removed as they were displaying stolen badges. One badge was seized for misuse, and another vehicle received a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for obscuring the serial number of the badge on display.
Trading Standards officers seized 56 packets of illicit (non-duty paid) cigarettes.
One licensing breach was found at a property and two businesses were found to have issues related to food safety.
Six businesses signed up to the Women’s Night Safety Charter.
We will continue to enforce during future Operation Shadow visits to town centres in Enfield, when we see that rules and laws have been broken #SaferEnfield
