Tandridge Golf Club – Thursday, 2nd July 2026
The fifth major event of the Cypriot Golf Society’s 2026 season, The CGS Open, was held at the magnificent Tandridge Golf Club in Surrey on Thursday, 2nd July 2026. Kindly sponsored by Kikis Kallis of Kallis & Co, the event attracted an impressive field of 64 golfers, including four guests, all competing for one of the Society’s most prestigious trophies – The Claret Jug.
The day could hardly have been better. Under glorious blue skies and warm sunshine, with temperatures reaching 28°C, members enjoyed perfect golfing conditions. Tandridge once again demonstrated why it is regarded as one of England’s premier inland golf courses. Immaculately presented fairways, superbly manicured greens running fast and true, and breathtaking surroundings provided a fitting stage for one of the highlights of the CGS calendar.
This was the Society’s third visit to Tandridge, and it certainly did not disappoint. The outstanding golf course was matched by equally exceptional hospitality, with members once again treated to a superb carvery dinner and an excellent selection of desserts – widely considered among the finest offered by any golf club in England.
The day’s honours went to Sam Aristidou, playing off an 11 handicap, who produced an outstanding 39-pointperformance to claim the coveted CGS Open Claret Jug. Sam, the Society’s 2024 Order of Merit Champion, has enjoyed another consistently strong season, and this victory was a fitting reward for his excellent form.
Finishing just one point behind on 38 points was Michael Falekkos, who recorded his second runner-up finish of the season. Third place, also on 38 points, went to Will Southwell, with Michael taking second place on countback.
Following the excellent dinner, Captain Dino thanked the day’s sponsor, Kikis Kallis, for his generous support and continued commitment to the Society. The prize presentation followed, before the traditional fines and donations were collected in aid of the Captain’s Charity, North London Hospice.
The generosity of the members once again shone through, with donations increasing the total raised for the charity to an outstanding £7,045.00. A tremendous achievement and a wonderful reflection of the spirit and generosity that continues to define the Cypriot Golf Society.
