The weather was pleasant, mild, dry and overcast. Unfortunately, the course had not recovered well from the recent extreme conditions of snow and rain, and the fairways and rough were so soft and waterlogged, that plugged balls was the order of the day.
This did not however deter the winners, with the ever improving Tom Theodorou winning the day and his first Major event, with an impressive 40 stableford points! Tom had recently taken a voluntary cut in his handicap, and still managed to play 4 shots better than his new handicap of 17 in these testing conditions. Best Gross score was the young star, Andrew Adams shooting 3 over par, with a tripple bogey on one hole after losing a ball to a plugged lie.
Nearest to pin and almost hole in one, Michael Falekkos, with the ball spinning back narrowly missing the hole by inches!
The day ended with dinner, speeches, prize giving and charitable donations in excess of £600 were raised! The Captain, Aggi’s chosen charity this year is Alzheimer’s Society.
The Captain thanked the members guests and sponsor once again and invited everyone to attend the next event, on the 2nd May at West Herts Golf Club.
A message from the event sponsor Nick Kyriacou “On behalf of us all at mi homes, it was with great pleasure to be this year’s main sponsor at The Cypriot Golf Society charity event.
The event was put together to support The Alzheimer’s Charity. Being charitable is a huge part of our business and we always stay true in believing that giving is the most rewarding aspect of business if you are in a position to do so. The Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia, affecting an estimated 850,000 people in the UK, and with our sponsorship contribution, the total sum raised was in the region of £5,000 overall, and it was great for mi homes to be a part of it.
