The Cyprus Anti-Doping Authority and UEFA signed an agreement in Nicosia, at the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), on doping-related issues and tests for footballers.
UEFA Head of Medical and Anti-Doping Marc Vouillamoz came to Cyprus for the signing of the agreement and met with President of the Cyprus Anti-Doping Authority Michail Petrou, in the presence of CFA Director of International Relations Adonis Prokopiou.
In statements, Vouillamoz said the agreement was to the benefit of the teams, the athletes, and the fans, and the aim was to have clean football.
The agreement includes the exchange of information between the Cyprus Anti-Doping Authority and the relevant UEFA Committee, with an aim to achieve more effective tests, better planning, and the avoidance of double tests on footballers during their local and UEFA engagements.
Petrou said cooperation with UEFA’s Anti-Doping Committee has always been excellent and was being further enhanced by the singing of the agreement.
Cyprus is the 30th European country to sign this agreement with UEFA’s Anti-Doping Committee. The signing of the agreement is mandatory for countries whose teams are competing in the Champions League, without excluding all other countries.
