The Forestry Department warned on Tuesday, ahead of an August long holiday weekend, the public to be careful of the dangers of starting a fire, especially in forest areas.
In a press release, the authorities call on holiday makers and hunters not to light any fires and not to use cutting, soldering or welding tools in open spaces or burn dry grass.
Smokers should also be careful and try not to smoke in or around forests.
If a blaze or smoke is spotted, the public is asked to immediately call 1407 or 112 and apply safety precautions to put out or reduce the fire.
