Cyprus negotiators continue discussion on property and exchange proposals

The negotiators of the two sides in Cyprus for the island`s political problem met on Wednesday in Nicosia and continued discussions on property, federal legislature and federal executive, and exchanged proposals on different matters.
According to a statement by Spokesperson of the Good Offices Mission in Cyprus Michel Bonnardeaux, `Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis and Turkish Cypriot negotiator Kudret Özersay met today at the United Nations Good Offices Mission`.

`The negotiators followed up on the meeting of the leaders which took place on 2 June 2014, and continued substantive negotiations on property, federal legislature and federal executive. They exchanged written proposals on different matters and they also agreed that they will meet again on Saturday, 14 June 2014 at the Good Offices Mission, Bonnardeaux notes.
He adds that `in the meantime, a meeting of the property experts of the two sides will take place`.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. The leaders of the two communities in Cyprus, namely President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, are currently engaged in talks with an aim to reunify the island under a federal roof.
