Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has urged young people to follow measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
President Anastasiades was replying to a journalist’s question on the lack of discipline of certain people and whether he is worried about the increase in COVID-19 cases among young people.
He referred to the fact that usually heroes are young people “who had the strength, the courage to stand up and fight against much worse (situations) than the coronavirus.”
“What needs to be understood, is that they are not just risking their own lives, but also the lives of their fathers, their grand-fathers, their brothers,” he noted.
Asked whether schools will open this year President Anastasiades said that it is too early for decisions to be made but stressed that the school year “will be on its educational track, whether with the physical presence of students or through distance learning.”
