CyWineFest Giving the spotlight to the community

In addition to the wine, food, culture, exhibition and everything else that goes on at CyWineFest, our event is proud that it offers a massive platform for community acts to take to the stage and showcase their talents.

Over the years, we’ve managed to produce some exclusive performances. In 2017, in our inaugural year at Lee Valley Leisure Centre we had an unforgettable duet between Elizabeth Chapman who performed Oso Tha Leipies with To Kalitero Paidi, Yiannis Ploutarchos featuring K-Koke, yet another UK Cypriot star. The song was produced just 48 hours before the event, and had its radio debut through LGR, and due to popular demand, it was amazing to hear it get so much air time. Yiannis Ploutarchos whole show was incredible, but this collaboration for us became the anthem of CyWineFest 2017, and the live performance was amazing. It brings back great memories every time we hear it! Kyriacos Georgiou first sang at CyWineFest 2015. He is now a rising star in Greece and Bulgaria, and his CV is rapidly growing, having performed with some of the best Greek acts at both Athens and Thessaloniki’s bouzoukia, and we had the pleasure of his homecoming last year as he wowed the crowds as Konstantinos Argiros’ main support act. There are too many singers to name individually, but some of our talented community singers have been performing at CyWineFest on and off since their teenage years and it’s been amazing for us to have seen them develop as individuals and as artists and we wish them continued success.

CyWineFest aims to entertain throughout the day, and we try to have as many live music acts and dance performances on stage as we can fit in, after all, what is a festival without music and dance?!

We have had Bouzouki Fever who are a talented group of young musicians who are keeping our Cypriot traditions alive by learning and showcasing the beauty of the bouzouki and have always been a hit when they’ve performed. We have Greek schools and dance groups performing their interpretation of Cypriot dances and manage to always put a spin on their choreography, and we’ve even had a street dance crew perform. Our dancers are regular crowd pleasers at CyWineFest and definitely help to get the right vibe going and most importantly entertain! All this is interspersed with a great DJ set with the best and current Greek and Cypriot music hits, we aim to ensure that the crowd’s going, the music is pumping; the fun starts as soon as the doors open until the party stops when the doors closes – unless visitors can’t get enough and take the party to the car park (which has happened)!!

We get such great feedback from all of our performers every year as it gives them such a buzz. For many, CyWineFest may be the biggest audience they get to perform to, for others who go on to bigger and better things, they look back at CyWineFest with fondness for the opportunity it provided them. This element of CyWineFest is a particularly special one, as it enables many performers to be able to reach thousands and provides them with the exposure to build on their confidence, their reputation as performers, and support for their careers, especially through social media posts and tags, and building a new base of followers. The greatest challenge left now for the team is how to top it?!

CYWINEFEST WANTS YOU!!

We want this trend to continue, and continue the legacy that was started many years ago to support our own! So……

Have you got what it takes to be the next big star? This year for the first time ever we are giving you the chance to get up on stage!

If you’re a performing artist looking to expand your audience then, this is your chance to shine, entertain the community and give you an unforgettable opportunity. We are looking for two acts to include in our performance schedule and want to find enthusiastic and excited singers/performers for #CyWineFest 2019.

If you think this opportunity is for you, please get in touch with us through social media, email or by phone and the team will be in touch. Successful applicants will be announced in May.
