Delimitation of maritime zones with Cyprus “when time is ripe” Greek Foreign Minister says

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias says that Greece will proceed with the delimitation of maritime zones with Cyprus “when time is ripe.”

In an interview with Greek weekly “Real News”, Dendias notes that Greek diplomacy is emerging from a period of inertia and is now setting the objective of gradually delimitating all its maritime zones in the region.

“However, while delimitating maritime zones, especially in a region such as the Eastern Mediterranean, a necessary sequence of actions need to be planned and carried out with accuracy. This is also highlighted after a careful reading of the agreement with Egypt”, the Greek Foreign Minister underlined.

As he stressed, the “very geography of the Mediterranean dictates cooperation and multilateral cooperation”, he went on. “Rest assured that in due course and when the time is ripe, we will proceed with Cyprus towards this direction”, Dendias stressed.

Moreover, he said that Greece is ready to take part in a dialogue with Turkey, stressing however that this cannot happen under threats, insults and provocations or when Greek sovereign rights are violated
