An animal welfare group on Thursday called on the authorities to launch an investigation into animal cruelty after a stray dog was allegedly thrown into a cardboard crushing machine by staff at a Paralimni hotel.
According to Cyprus Animal Party, the owner of the hotel asked his employees to get rid of a stray dog in the area.
Two staff members allegedly caught the canine and put it in box crushing machine outside the hotel. Tourists who witnessed the incident managed to save the badly injured dog which is currently being treated at a local veterinarian clinic.
