UK Cypriot actor Christopher Pan has written and is producing a play about Alexander the Great in collaboration with director Rikki Beadle Blair MBE.
The drama, Alexander: Two Souls One Body, sensitively portrays the relationship between Alexander the Great, his Persian wife Roxanna and his gay-lover Hephaistion. As legend, the story and characters maybe known, but this project presents a new insight into Cypriot heritage and the legacy left by Alexander. (Alexander’s sword: a present from the Cypriot king; he also sported an elaborate cloak made by Helicon, the famous weaver of Cyprus).
Christopher is currently working on a full stage version of ‘Alexander,’ a R&D piece showcased for a public audience at and with the support of Theatro Technis in London.
An actor and dancer with over 40 years experience, and a writer of recent years, Christopher has enjoyed collaborating on multi-disciplinary projects across theatre, film and television.
A qualified Dance Teacher and Fitness Instructor, he works with classes/groups across London and with various age groups and demographics. As a mature artist working with and across the disciplines of performing arts, he is now utilising his practical experiences as a performer and teacher of dance in order to creatively express himself through the medium of the written word.
In February, Christopher gave an electric performance playing two parts in a dramatisation of the Chekov story The Drowned Man at Theatro Technis. He returned later to present an excerpt from his epic new drama: Two Souls One Body – a speech from Alexander – to his lover’s corpse.
