Ecstatic…that sums up how Elizabeth Chapman feels at the moment; she’s just learned she will duet with Yiannis Ploutarchos at this year’s Cypriot Wine Festival & Business Expo!
Elizabeth will provide the female vocals on Oso Tha Leipeis, Ploutarchos’ major hit single featuring Kings, at the event which takes place on Sunday 28th and Bank Holiday Monday 29th May at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.
Well known in our community as one of the strongest female vocalists on the circuit, Elizabeth comes from a family of singers which stems back to her maternal great-grandfather, Pappou Nicolas from Rizokarpasso, and of course her well known father Andy from the band Midas Touch.
She began her professional singing career from the age of 15, as well as performing in as many acts as she could in school and higher education. A victim of bullying, she found her escape in music and performance. “I was, and still am a music geek, and I’m proud of it. It may not have been the most secure life choice that I made but I wouldn’t change it for the world. For me, not singing is like being without food and water, it’s in my blood,” she said.
Elizabeth has sung backing vocals for many big artists such as Mariah Carey, Susan Boyle and Westlife, but unknown to many, she is also a highly regarded piano teacher and actress who is trained in musical theatre, with a BA in Performing Arts and is currently signed to top West End acting agent BTM.
Married to well known singer/songwriter Simon Chapman, Elizabeth and her husband recently became parents to their six-month-old son Andy: “I never really stopped working throughout my pregnancy, but I had to take a few weeks off after having a C-Section.”
Six months post operation, Elizabeth is back to her normal self and feels honoured to have been asked to sing with Yiannis Ploutarchos at the Cyprus Wine Festival.
“I can’t wait….bring it on!” she said enthusiastically.
And there’s more…performing alongside Ploutarchos and Elizabeth is Greek Cypriot rapper Kevin Georgiou, better known by his stage name K Koke!
Kevin, whose family hails from Ayios Theodoros, Karpasias in Cyprus, is from Stonebridge, North West London. He is best known for his Fire in the Booth freestyle on Charlie Sloth‘s show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, which has accumulated over nine million YouTube views.
Koke is part of UK rap crew USG. His first mixtape, Pure Koke Volume One, was given away for free on various online outlets. Following extensive radio play, Koke signed a deal with Roc Nation. At the time of signing to Roc Nation, Koke was preparing to release Pure Koke Volume Two. He released visuals for singles Nobody But Us, Lord Knows and Streets Are Cold, the latter of which features Birmingham’s Malik MD7.
He later released Turn Back featuring Maverick Sabre), Lay Down Your Weapons featuring Rita Ora and My Time featuring Bridget Kelly.
In 2015, he signed with Universal Music. Koke is one of the most exciting emerging artists in the UK; his enigmatic, emotion-soaked delivery is in turns conceptual, literal and esoteric. Adept at delivering a number of flows, with a mastery of metaphor and a preference for the conceptual, Koke is one of the most important voices of this generation. Tickets for the main show in the designated seating area at CyWineFest are priced at £25.00 (includes entrance fee) and can purchased online at www.www.pinewsuk.com
