Parents urged to make their choices early
– 91.5 per cent offered a place at their top three choices of school
– The borough’s schools boast a 98.2 per cent pass rate in A Levels
Enfield Council is urging the parents of pupils due to start secondary school next September to complete their applications in good time, to maximise the chances of getting their children into a school of their choice.
The deadline for secondary school admissions is 31 October for next September’s secondary school intake.
Of the pupils who started secondary school this September 91.5 per cent of those who submitted an application in time were offered a place at one of their top three choices of school.
It is more good news for Enfield’s parents and students, because earlier this year 93 per cent of schools in the borough teaching most of the 55,000 pupils in Enfield, were rated as good or outstanding by Ofsted.
Enfield’s schools demonstrated this excellence in this year’s exam results by achieving a 98.2 per cent pass rate in A-levels, compared with a national average of 97.9 per cent.
Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services & Protection, Cllr Ayfer Orhan, urged parents to get their applications in early, she said: “We are extremely lucky that Enfield has such a wide range of fantastic schools, and parents can be sure that wherever their children go they will be well taught and looked after.
“But it is incredibly important that applications are submitted early, so that they can be processed in good time and parents can maximise the chances of their children going to a school of their choice.
“We have a rapidly growing population, and are working hard to provide extra school places and improve standards each year. Enfield is very much a success story when it comes to providing pupils of all backgrounds a superb education and giving them the opportunities they need to flourish.”
