DADDY DAYCARE 1/3

British women do twice the amount of childcare than men and nearly half of all mothers feel that their partners don’t do their fair share. The nation’s mums have had enough.

In this brand new three-part documentary series, nine men are sent on a crash course in childcare by their long-suffering wives and partners. Sent to work in three busy London nurseries, for the first time in their lives, they’ll tackle every aspect of childcare under the watchful eyes of the nursery staff.

Can throwing them in the deep end teach these dads to be better fathers and give their kids the loving, positive male role models they desperately need?

In the first episode workaholic father of three Garry Kousoulou (38) pictured in the centre of the photo, reluctant dad-of-one Jay (39) and nervous father-to-be Stefan (26) spend a week working at South London nursery Magic Roundabout, staffed entirely by single mums.

Career obsessed Garry wants to prove to his wife Lea that he has the patience and concentration to look after their three kids. But nursery staff are concerned about his unconventional approach to childcare.

Ex-military man Stefan is in crisis. He wants to discover if he has the confidence to be a dad by the time he marries fiancée Claire in November. But applying the ‘tough love’ he experienced during his own school days seems to translate less well to the under-fives under his command.

Wife Julie wants father-of-one Jay to spend time with kids to see if he’ll learn to enjoy them – and cancel his vasectomy operation.

But will the intense nursery experience give the dads the confidence and passion to care for their own kids and support their partners more?

Cypriot Garry Kousoulou, who runs Goodlooking Optics in Onge Parade, off Genotin Road, is a self-confessed workaholic and decided to take part in Channel 4 show Daddy Daycare to prove a point to his wife Lia who said he only fathered his three sons, aged one, four and six, at the weekend.

Garry said the experience had taught him he needed to be at home more for the more mundane parts of parenthood.

He said: “I guess the thing I’ve learned most is that I need to be there more to do the boring bits of being a dad so I can bond with my kids more.”

Gary and Lia who are proud Cypriots come from Kiti and Galata respectively

Gary Kousoulou will be seen on Channel 4 next Wednesday February the 15th at 8pm.
