Enfield Labour celebrates news that all Enfield Schools are rated “Good” or “Outstanding” by OFSTED

Enfield Labour celebrates the news that, following an inspection by OFSTED of St James’ CofE School in Brimsdown, all schools in Enfield are rated either “Good” or “Outstanding” by OFSTED.

It’s a testament to the amazing work done by teachers in Enfield, and we thank them for their hard work and their dedication.

Cllr Abdul Abdullahi, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said “I am so pleased to say that following this OFSTED inspection result, Enfield is now one of only 8 local authorities where all schools are rated “Good” or “Outstanding” by OFSTED. It’s an amazing achievement by our teachers, school leaders and council officers.

The Tories left our education system in crisis. A crisis in SEND, crumbling classrooms, staff morale at an all time low. We’re working to fix this.

We’re quite literally fixing the foundations of our classrooms, and the Chancellor singled out Chace Community in Enfield Town as one of many schools across the country benefiting from money to rebuild their buildings. The expansion of Free School Meals will mean over 30,000 children in Enfield will be entitled to Free School Meals, and our new Free Breakfast Clubs will roll out across Enfield from September. This will boost attendance and results, and save parents money.

Enfield Labour is ambitious for our young people, and we believe everyone should have the same opportunities to achieve their full potential. Making sure our children all attend “Good” or “Outstanding” schools is just part of this. We’re also among the lowest ranked local authorities for excluding students from education, thanks to our work to spot at-risk young people early.

We’re also taking advantage of the Labour Government’s reforms to apprenticeships, to make sure people in Enfield have the skills they need. Our Enfield Construction Skills Academy means that locally, young people can learn a trade. Our Summer University for Young People also means that young people in Enfield can do a series of free courses during the summer holidays. At every opportunity, we’re helping our young people to succeed”
