Enfield Road no water or low pressure

Thames Water customers affected by Thursday’s burst water pipe will see their water slowly returning over the next few hours after engineers successfully began bringing water back through the damaged pipe

We’re very sorry to customers still experiencing problems with their water this afternoon due to a burst pipe in Enfield, we know it is frustrating.

We have reconnected water back at 8am this morning after working through the night to put temporary covers across the pipe so water could pass through. The repair will mean customers have their water supply back today, while we plan how best to carry out a permanent repair to the pipe with the minimum disruption at a later date.

It will take a few hours for water to make its way back through our network of pipes, and customers in flats or living in higher areas may find they have low pressure for a little longer. Please bear with us.

We will continue to supply bottled water for as long as we need to.

Bottled water is available from the following locations:

  • Roundhill Drive, EN2 7RL

We are working hard to keep these locations replenished however you may find a short wait time

Chris Featherstone, head of operational control at Thames Water, said: “We’re very sorry to customers who have had no water or low water pressure. We realise it has been a frustrating time and we’d like to thank them for their patience.

“It will take a few hours for water to make its way back through our network of pipes, and customers in flats or living in higher areas may find they have low pressure for a little while longer. Please bear with us – we’ll carry on supplying bottled water for as long as we need to.”

Over the last 24-hours a dedicated team identified vulnerable customers, and organised bottled water to be delivered direct to their homes. Key organisations such as hospitals and care homes were provided with tankers of water so they could remain open.

The burst happened on a large, 16-inch diameter water main, which burst around 1:30am on Thursday morning on Enfield Road, EN2 7HA. The road remains open to traffic although two-way traffic lights have been installed to allow the water workers to safely work on the pipe.

Over the next few weeks when additional work will be needed to permanently fix the pipe some customers may experience short periods without water or with low water pressures, but supplies will return to normal today.
