Illegal Bayrak television (24.03.12) reports that the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, stated that the Cyprus negotiations process cannot continue open-ended.
Eroglu, who was speaking during a visit paid to him? said that “it is necessary to introduce deadlines in the current process in order to reach a positive outcome”.
He also said that 5 tripartite meetings had been held between the two sides without success and alleged that the Greek Cypriot side has rejected all proposals or agreements brought to the negotiating table to this day. He claimed that it will be extremely difficult to reach a solution to the Cyprus Problem “as long as the EU does not remove the inhuman embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriots”.
“The Greek Cypriot side does not only reject all proposals on the table, but also all offers for mediation, arbitration or a multilateral conference”, Eroglu alleged.
“I hope that the EU sees and acknowledges the kind of intransigence we face from the Greek Cypriot side and contributes to a settlement on the island by removing the embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriots” he claimed.
