A representation from FIFA has arrived in Cyprus to meet with Cyprus Football Association (CFA) officials and to discuss the island’s football body’s plans for the future. The FIFA team of experts – as they are called – are in Cyprus as part of FIFA’s Performance Programme. During their time on the island, the experts met with high-ranking CFA officials, including chairman Costakis Koutsokoumnis, to discuss strategic planning for the future.
The Performance programme is, according to FIFA, the fruit of several decades’ worth of experience and careful consideration within FIFA on the subject of football development at the global level. It has been developed to respond to the evolution of the world game and address the specific needs of FIFA’s member associations, while being made possible due to the will of all parties involved to work together to constantly improve. It’s other roles include allowing FIFA’s member associations to reach their maximum potential both on and off the pitch as well as improving the quality of modern football and how the game is managed by providing member associations with first-class expertise, solutions and tailor-made services.
The delegation to visit Cyprus includes FIFA Development Officer Eva Pasquier, FIFA Finances Expert James Haynes, former Swiss Football Association Technical Director Hansruedi Hasler and Cypriot national Nikos Kartakoullis who has in the past served as Chairman of the Cyprus Sports Organisation (CSO).
