Residents, businesses, landlords and all other interested parties are being encouraged to respond to the consultation on a proposed Additional Licensing Scheme.
These proposals would extend upon the current mandatory licensing scheme and would require smaller Houses of Multiple Occupancy (HMOs), including those of two or more storeys with four or more people living in two or more households and some or all shared facilities, and for some types of buildings and houses converted into flats, to need licenses.
This could include shared houses, flats and bedsits, houses rented out in rooms, hostels, student accommodation and homes with a live-in landlord.
Full details of the types of HMO included in the plans can be found in the consultation documents on the council’s website.
We are keen to hear people’s views from inside and outside of the borough and would like to encourage as many people as possible to take the time to consider the proposals and let us know what they think.
The consultation period has been extended and will now close on the 23rd October.
If you need help with completing the questionnaire, or require a copy of the consultation in an alternative format, please contact Maryna Rasloutseva by telephoning 020 8359 7454 or by emailing HMOs@barnet.gov.uk.
