Cypriot Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides spoke with the UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab earlier today focusing mainly on the steps towards the resumption of the Cyprus issue settlement talks.
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs post on Twitter said that there was an exchange of views on the way ahead in ongoing efforts by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez aimed to resume negotiations.
On his Twitter account Mr Raab wrote that “the UK remains committed to playing a constructive role in the resumption of Cyprus peace talks” and that it “fully supports” efforts by Mr Guterres to drive progress forwards.
“Today I spoke with Cypriot foreign minister @Christodoulides to welcome a new year and era of UK-Cyprus ties,” added the UK Foreign Secretary.
The discussion also covered issues relating to UNFICYP, post Brexit cooperation and the bilateral relations agenda.
