PICTURE: Winners celebrate their awards with Cllrs Peacock and McNamara
Fabulous florals, wonderful window boxes and gorgeous gardens were celebrated at the annual Haringey in Bloom awards.
Dozens of green-fingered residents from across the borough took part in this year’s competition, and the most brilliant blooms were rewarded at a ceremony at the Sunshine Garden Centre.
Winners included Selale restaurant in Green Lanes for its colourful floral display and The Willow Primary School which, along with the help of other neighbouring schools, has created a unique outdoor space complete with a garden and an outdoor classroom.
Harringay Green Lanes & Grand Parade scooped the new award of Most Improved Street for the fantastic work the Green Lanes Traders and Residents Association have done to improve street scene and shop fronts.
Awards were given out by Cabinet Member for Environment Cllr McNamara and Cllr Sheila Peacock.
Cllr McNamara said: “It was fantastic to celebrate the efforts of residents, businesses and schools, who brighten up their community with their gardening skills.
“We had some brilliant entries this year and it highlighted just how many people take pride in where they live and play a huge role in making Haringey a welcoming place to live, work and visit.”
