G/c side has the goosays Commissioner Photiou
The Greek Cypriot side has the good will for a solution to the Cyprus problem and is ready for a compromise that will leave neither winners nor loosers, Commissioner Photis Photiou has said.
He pointed out however that Turkey must also show good will and change its stance.
Speaking on Sunday at a memorial service, Photiou said that to achieve substantial progress in the peace talks, Ankara must agree to terminate the occupation of the island.
He said that we have expectations from the talks and hope for positive results the soonest possible and called on Turkey to work to this end.
Photiou said that our vision is to reunite our island and turn it into a place of peace, security, democracy and prosperity for all its people.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern territory. UN backed talks resumed in May between President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci aiming to reunify the island under a federal political system.
