Haringey Borough 2 Harlow 3

Ryman League Division 1 North 1st December 2015 Coles Park

After slipping back into the relegation places, Haringey Borough entertained Harlow Town on Tuesday night hoping for something after the defeat to high flyers AFC Hornchurch at the weekend.
Haringey’s manager seems to be finding a settled team with just minimal changes from the game on Saturday and the performance showed.
The pitch was already sodden from the rain and started to cut up straight away. The worst being in front of the main stand, where instead of grass it was mostly brown with mud but this didn’t deter Boro. Within a minute of the start, Jerome Martelli received the ball on the left side of the Harlow’s box and going across goal to get a better angle the ball bobbled and the chance was gone. He did have another chance after five minutes but the goalkeeper saved down to his left.
This spurred Harlow and after eleven minutes they opened the scoring. A corner was headed back across goal and Alex Read tapped in.
Martelli was being a handful for the Harlow defenders. Twenty minutes in he had a one on one which the keeper stopped but it was his run on twenty six minutes which lead to Haringey’s equaliser. A Harlow defender stopped him illegally on the edge of the box and the resulting free kick was put into the back off the net by Dan Aristidou for his third goal in six games.
Less than thirty seconds later disaster happened. A Harlow shot was saved by Ashley Harris in Boro’s goal but the rebound fell to Harlow’s Junior Dadson who tapped in the rebound to restore Town’s lead.
The rest of the half settled down with a couple of chances for both sides, but nothing serious for either keeper to contend with.
Haringey started the second half with more desire, with Leroy Griffiths heading just over from an Aristidou cross. Harris saved low down from a Harlow attack and on sixty seven minutes Boro got what they deserved, a second equaliser.
A Griffiths corner coursed confusion, with first Rakim Richards shot saved and then a second shot coming off the cross bar only to hit the Harlow goalkeepers back and into the net for an own goal.
Harlow’s third and winning goal arrive just under ten minutes later. Harlow’s number 10 Mario Noto side footed home, after a through ball by Read. Harlow took control after that with Harris again saving well from a Harlow header.
The final whistle went. Haringey had lost but the manager can take a lot of positives from this game, starting with Great Wakering Rovers at home this Saturday and an away trip to Maldon and Tiptree on Tuesday both games weather permitting.
