HARINGEY BOROUGH V AVELEY

Ryman League Division One North 5th September 2016 Coles Park

The division’s top scorers in Aveley visited Haringey’s Coles Park on Monday and the crowd was treated to a goal feast. 3 times Haringey equalised but still came away with nothing.

With what was going to follow, the action was pretty tepid until the 15th minute, when Aveley’s Sherwin Stanley had a free header at a corner to start the goal rush. Haringey’s Dean Fenton scored from a right wing cross that evaded the Aveley defence ten minutes later, but Aveley restored their lead when Abayomi Seymour followed up from a save by Austin Byfield in Haringey’s goal.

The lead lasted all of two minutes when Ross Dedman scored from an acute angle after some ball juggling skills from Daniel Aristidou produced an opening. Haringey could have lead a couple of minutes later, when Joshua Willer’s shot was saved by Lemar Johnson in Aveley’s goal.

Again Aveley led, when Stanley got his second and Aveley’s third five minutes before the break and there was still time in the half for Haringey’s Jorge Djassi-Sambu to have a header saved.

If you’re not sure the whistle went for half-time with the score 3-2 to Aveley.

Aveley came out with all guns blazing at the start of the second half and scored inside 2 minutes when Stanley completed his hat-trick with flicked header from a free-kick.

5 minutes later it was 4-3, when Fenton scored with a thunderbolt of a shot giving the keeper no chance. Haringey brought on Ralston Gabriel and his first touch was a wicked volley from the edge of the box to equalise.

It was nearly 10 minutes before the next and last goal of the game, when Aveley’s Arian Reticoceri followed up a block with a left footed drive giving Byfield no chance. This didn’t stop the action with both Dedman and Kwabena Nana Asamoah both having a chance to level proceedings.

The game ended on a sour note, when Haringey’s Rakim Richards was booked after an Aveley forward left his foot in and the referee decided Richards was at fault, even though everyone could see it was a 50-50 challenge.

Next up is Thurrock at home on Saturday 10th September. So far a total of 28 goals have been scored in 5 games this season at Coles Park, definitely worth the entrance fee and remember that a FREE season ticket is still on offer. Tell your friends. Just fill in a form and it’s all done.
