Help support Haringey’s children impacted by COVID-19

Haringey Giving has teamed up with The Childhood Trust to launch the ‘Champions for Children Appeal’ to help children and young people who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
Donations will be doubled during the appeal – which runs from midday 8 June and midday 15 June – up to a total of £10,000.
Haringey Giving will use the money raised to provide small grants of around £1,000 to community groups and charities who are supporting children and young people through the recovery phase of the pandemic. Funds will be distributed through Haringey Giving’s ‘Together We Can’ small grants programme. Funded projects will enable children and young people to come together to overcome challenges they face due to Covid-19.
Funded projects will enable young people to grow and develop their skills, improve their mental and physical wellbeing and their life chances. Supported initiatives will improve physical and mental health and wellbeing, and increase confidence. Also, encourage personal development, educational attainment and achievement, and reduce social isolation.
Julia Slay, Chair, Haringey Giving said: “In Haringey, the pandemic has highlighted underlying disadvantage and inequalities in the circumstances and experiences of children and young people. This appeal will help to raise funds for young people in Haringey, and fund projects that support their wellbeing.”
Laurence Guinness, Chief Executive, The Childhood Trust said: “Disadvantaged children in London need support now more than ever so we are delighted to be working with Haringey Giving to double all donations made to their appeal. This means that for every pound that people donate – twice the number of children and young people can be supported.”
