House fire – Walthamstow

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a house fire on Hale End Road in Walthamstow.

One terraced house was destroyed by the fire. A small part of the roof of four neighbouring properties was damaged by the fire. There are no reports of any injuries.

Local residents were advised to keep their windows and doors shut due to smoke travel in the area.

One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as a water tower to tackle the fire from above.

Control Officers took the first of 13 calls at 1019 and have mobilised crews from Walthamstow, Woodford, Leyton and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1341.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
