Every single one of our 18,600 streetlights will be converted to use LED bulbs in the next financial year as part of a huge £4.8 million investment.
Lighting columns will also be replaced where needed as they come to the end of their natural working lives.
The council will also be bringing in a new central management computer system across Haringey.
This will make the borough’s street lighting more responsive and safer for residents, as well as cheaper and more environmentally friendly. See our Street Lighting Investment Plan.
Cllr Seema Chandwani, Cabinet Member for Transformation and Public Realm Investment, said: “As part of our drive to make the borough safer and reduce carbon emissions, I am pleased that we will be replacing all our old streetlights with modern LED lights.
“We will also be bringing in a centralised SMART computer management system. These initiatives will provide better streetlighting for residents and ensure faults are identified and fixed more quickly ensuring public areas are kept light and safe where needed.”
